TITLE: Experimental Essential - Detectors
Abstract:
In experimental high energy particle physics, we are exploring the energy frontier with the cutting-edge technologies in both accelerator and detector.
LHC, the current world's largest and highest-energy particle collider, will experience an upgrade called called High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) which is planned to run after 2027, in order to increase potential for discoveries beyond the current scope.
Therefore a large amount of efforts are being made to crank up the detector performance to tackle challenges coming with the HL-LHC environment, namely average interactions increased by one magnitude every time when two bunches of particles collides.
I will discuss one of such detector upgrade which aims at tackling this increased interactions, in the meanwhile I will walk you through other important aspects in cutting-edge detector R&D.
