How to reach Cagliari?
BY PLANE
Sardinia has three international airports: Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero. The airport closest to the conference venue is Cagliari Airport. We strongly suggest to take this option for arrival and departure. The center of Cagliari and the train station can be reached from the airport by train, as the airport features a dedicated train station (called “Elmas Areoporto”). Also several buses are available.
Olbia is connected to Cagliari by train (3.5 hours).
From Alghero’s airport by bus you can either take a bus to Cagliari (4 hours), or reach Sassari and then from Sassari take a train to Cagliari (4-5 hours).

BY FERRY
From continental Italy you can reach Sardinia also by ferry. There are several companies selling tickets online, with typically two departures per day (one of them overnight). Typical routes are:
- Civitavecchia – Cagliari (Grimaldi Lines)
- Genova – Olbia/Porto Torres (Grimaldi Lines, Moby Lines, Tirrenia Ferries)
- Livorno – Olbia (Grimaldi Lines, Moby Lines, Tirrenia Ferries)
- Napoli – Cagliari (Grimaldi Lines)
For participants coming from central Europe by train, possibly a Night Train, two options available would be Route 1, Route 2, Route3. The main connecting stations for European Trains for these three routes would respectively be: Roma Termini, Milano Centrale and Firenze Santa Maria Novella.
How to reach the venue from Cagliari?
CONFERENCE BUS
We plan to offer a free bus ride for the participants of the conference in the afternoon of Sunday 1st, starting from Cagliari Airport and with an intermediate stop in front of the train station in Cagliari (Piazzale Matteotti). The return trip will also be similarly arranged in the afternoon of Friday 6th. The small shuttle on the morning of Saturday 7th has not been arranged.

STANDARD BUS
Sant’Elmo BluHotel can also be reached by bus (route 101 direction San Vito, stop in Sant’Elmo) in about 2 hours, from the bus station which is in front of the train station in Cagliari. Local pickup by car at the stops nearby the hotel can also be arranged on request. Contact the local organizers for this.
CAR
Car rentals are available both at the airport and in front of the train/bus station in Cagliari. By car you can reach the venue in about one hour from the Cagliari Elmas Airport, through the following state roads (SS): SS 554 and SS 125, direction Muravera.

FINAL INFORMATIONS
THE BUS WILL LEAVE AT 18:00 FROM THE CITY center of Cagliari, more precisely from the parking in front of the Cagliari Port “Stazione Marittima”, which is next to the train and bus stations and thus easy to reach also from the airport (for those who arrive by plane earlier on Sunday). Then the bus will arrive at the Cagliari-Elmas Airport (most likely around 18:10-18:15), and it will park in the places reserved to touristic buses. See the following link for the location on the map:

IT WILL LEAVE THE AIRPORT AT 18:30, and will then drive directly to the Sant'Elmo Beach Hotel (where it will arrive most likely around 19:30-20:00).
You can recognize the bus from the sign it will exhibit (next to the driver). It will read “QS&RG 2023” (click here to see the sign). Let me remind you that YOU SHOULD NOT PAY anything for this conference-bus!
